It runs. Don't ask how.

Every train arrives on time, and nobody could tell you which route it took. That is the honest state of a lot of AI-generated codebases: they demonstrably work, but no one can trace a request from start to finish, and the first change anyone makes derails something three loops away. Getting from "it runs" to "we understand why it runs" is the work our vibe-coded to venture-ready guide walks through.

Passes the demo. Fails the inspection.

A white kitchen sink with an electrical wall socket fitted inside the basin, below the tap. A red arrow labels the socket 'Vibe coded app security'.
Share this meme:
vcm-0002

The socket works and the sink works. Put them together without anyone who knows the regulations and you get something that functions perfectly until someone turns the tap. A lot of vibe-coded security looks like this: every part does its job, and nobody checked how the parts interact. Authorisation, exposed secrets and readable databases are where it usually goes wrong.

Ten apps shipped. Never met Git.

Screenshot of a post by Vineer (@vineerpasam) on X about a friend who built several AI apps but, asked in an interview about Git merge versus rebase, had never pushed code without Claude Code's help.
Share this meme:
vcm-0003

The portfolio was real, and so were the apps. But an employer, investor or acquirer isn't only buying what you built; they're buying confidence that someone can maintain it. AI can write the code. Understanding how it's versioned, reviewed and changed safely is still the part that turns a project into a product.

Prompt to launch in one leap

Illustration titled 'Vibe coders be like...'. A stick figure in a blue cap leaps along a dashed arc from the bottom step, labelled Prompt, to the top step, labelled Launch, saying 'It works on my demo'. The steps in between are labelled Security, Scalability, Compliance, Licensing, Hosting and Marketing, each marked 'skipped'.
Share this meme:
vcm-0004

The jump from first prompt to launch day looks effortless, right up until you notice the steps that were skipped on the way. Security, scalability, compliance, licensing, hosting and marketing don't disappear because nobody stood on them; they wait for your first real users. The good news is that each one is a specific, learnable step, and our venture-ready guide walks through them in order.

Same launch pad. Very different basement.

Split illustration of two identical rockets on launch pads. Left, labelled Vibe Coding: underground is a chaotic tangle of wires and pipes tagged quick fixes, no structure, spaghetti code, works somehow. Right, labelled Software Engineering: an orderly engineered basement tagged proper architecture, clean code, scalable, maintainable, built for the long run.
Share this meme:

Above ground, both rockets look identical and ready to fly. Below ground, one sits on a tangle of quick fixes and spaghetti that works somehow; the other on a structure someone could actually maintain. Users only ever see the top half. Investors, acquirers and the next developer you hire see the bottom.

The short route is the long one

Cartoon of an exhausted man crawling through a desert towards a sign reading 'Telling pls fix to Cursor again, 21 miles', ignoring another sign pointing the other way: 'Understand how things actually works, quarter of a mile'.
Share this meme:
vcm-0006

Twenty-one miles of telling the AI "pls fix" again, or a quarter of a mile to understanding how the thing actually works. Re-prompting until the error goes away feels faster every single time, and it's almost never the shorter path. A little understanding of your own codebase is the cheapest debugging tool there is.

Just keep vibe coding

Photo of two men laying bricks on a visibly wonky, uneven wall, captioned 'Just keep vibe coding. We can always fix it later.'
Share this meme:
vcm-0007

Two bricklayers, a wall going up at a cheerful angle, and the most confident sentence in software. "We can always fix it later" is true; later just has a habit of arriving the day the wall has to carry weight, usually your first real customers. The venture-ready guide is about choosing when later happens, instead of letting it choose you.

The most helpful error message ever written 🙂

Illustration of a sign-up form titled 'Create your account'. Under the password field an error reads 'This password is already in use by dave.smith@example.com. Please choose a unique password.'
Share this meme:
vcm-0008

To tell you your password is taken, the app has to store passwords in a way it can compare and read, then it hands you someone else's email address for good measure. One error message, three problems: plaintext credentials, leaked personal data, and a breach you'd likely have to report to the ICO. Funny until it's your sign-up form.

The new productivity

Screenshot of a post by I Am Devloper (@iamdevloper) on X, 20 March 2025: 'vibe coding, where 2 engineers can now create the tech debt of at least 50 engineers'. 647.9k views, 14k likes.
Share this meme:
vcm-0009

AI really has multiplied what a small team can produce, and that includes the bits nobody wanted to produce. Tech debt used to accumulate at the speed people could type. The fix isn't to slow down; it's a short, regular habit of looking at the shape of what you've built before you build the next thing on top of it.

A market emerges

Qeetoto quote card of a post by Santiago (@svpino) on X: 'Quick reminder: I'm charging $1,000/hour to fix your vibe-coded mess.'
Share this meme:
vcm-0010

It's a joke, mostly. But "fixing vibe-coded apps" has quietly become a real line of work, and the rates reflect how hard it is to untangle something nobody designed. The cheaper option is to plan for production-readiness while the app is still small enough to change easily.

The building with no ground floor

Illustration titled 'Pre-AI vs. Post-AI' showing two office buildings with floors labelled Leadership, Management, Skilled Workers and New Hires. In the Pre-AI building every floor is full of people. In the Post-AI building, AI screens replace most new hires, several skilled workers and some managers, while leadership is almost entirely people.
Share this meme:
vcm-0011

The joke lands because the AI fills the building from the bottom up: new hires go first, then skilled workers, while the top floor stays human. But every person on the top floor started on the ground floor. Remove the first rung and in ten years there is nobody qualified to check the AI's work. Our view: let AI agents take the repetitive work, keep people deciding, and keep a floor where the next generation learns the craft.

Four job titles in four years 🙂

Four-panel cartoon of a sloth in a yellow hoodie. 2024: Prompt Engineer, typing at a command prompt. 2025: Vibe Coder, relaxing on a beanbag in sunglasses with a mug. 2026: Master of AI agents, standing on a box directing a crowd of robots. 2027: Unemployed, sitting alone beside a tumbleweed.
Share this meme:
vcm-0013

Prompt engineer, vibe coder, master of AI agents, then the tumbleweed. The joke works because every title on that ladder was invented by the same wave that can retire it. None of us is fully protected from that, whoever we work for. One of the better hedges is owning something yourself: a small product with real users, where the skills you learn building it belong to you, not to a job title. If you're building one, our guide covers the first practical question, which is when it needs to become a company.

Now only God knows 🙂

A tabby cat with a paw on a computer mouse in front of a laptop. Caption: 'When I wrote this code, only god & I understood what it did. Now... only god knows.'
Share this meme:
vcm-0014

This used to take six months. With AI it can take a weekend, because the "I" who understood the code was really a chat session, and that session is gone. The fix is cheap if you do it as you go: ask Claude to explain the why in comments as it writes; keep a project notes file (a CLAUDE.md) with how the system fits together and what you decided, which your AI reads at the start of every session and so does future you; turn anything you do twice, like deploying or adding a feature, into a written skill; and log each decision in one line, with commit messages that say why. It's how we run our own projects, and it means the answer to "what does this do?" is in the repo, not in God's hands.

Vibe construction

Cartoon of a builder in a hard hat and hi-vis vest in front of a crooked, cracked, lopsided house, telling a sceptical man: 'It's called vibe construction. I'm not even a contractor! Pretty soon all buildings will be made this way.'
Share this meme:
vcm-0015

Nobody would move into this house. Buildings have regulations, structural engineers and an inspection before anyone gets the keys, precisely because they look finished long before they're safe. Software has none of that by default: a vibe-coded app can go live tonight with no one checking the foundations, and its users are the people moving in. We'd rather that future didn't arrive. Our venture-ready guide is the inspection checklist, and we'll do the inspection with you if you'd like a second pair of eyes before launch.

There are only two kinds of pull request

Two-column comparison titled 'There are only 2 kind of Pull Requests'. Senior Dev: +203,542 / -158,119 lines, 430 files modified, patch notes 'fix'. Vibe Coder: +1 / -1, 1 file modified, with a huge speech bubble of patch notes.
Share this meme:
vcm-0016

We laughed, then recognised ourselves in the right-hand column. One of the quiet upsides of building with AI is that documentation stopped being the chore nobody does: ask for it and you get the why in the commit, the comments and the project notes, written while the reasoning is still fresh. Done right, it's documentation at source, and the history explains itself. The senior dev's 430-file "fix" is the real horror here. The trick is the right amount: a clear line of why for a one-line change, not an essay.

Please stop asking questions 😬

Caption: 'Vibe coders when asked about security, observability, concurrency, data loss, and why the database is publicly reachable:' above a close-up of a man in a pink polo shirt puffing out his cheeks, looking guilty.
Share this meme:
vcm-0017

Five fair questions, one face. Security, observability, concurrency, data loss and a database anyone can reach aren't trick questions: they're what any customer, investor or acquirer will ask the moment your app matters. Getting asked them isn't the bad part; not knowing the answers when it counts is. Don't let this be you: come and work through them with us before someone else asks. The venture-ready guide is a good place to start.

Everyone else is swimming 🐔

Share this meme:

The geese make it look easy, so in goes the chicken. Same pond, same confidence, very different equipment. AI really does let anyone get into the water now; what it doesn't hand you is the instinct for when you're out of your depth: security, scaling, data, the bits that only show up mid-pond. If you're the chicken, there's no shame in it. We can give you the life vest: start with the venture-ready guide, and shout if you'd like a hand getting back to the bank.
